What a St. Tammany succession costs

Most successions we handle are a flat fee, quoted in writing before you sign anything. Fees start at approximately $2,000 to $5,000, depending on the procedure needed: a small succession affidavit, a judgment of possession, or a full administration. On the first call we tell you which procedure applies and exactly what it costs.

How long it takes at the 22nd JDC

Getting started usually takes 2–4 weeks while we gather documents and prepare the filing. How long it takes to finish depends on the type of case and the procedure needed. On the first call we give you a realistic timeline for your case.

The 22nd JDC sits at the St. Tammany Parish Justice Center at 701 N. Columbia St. in Covington. It also hears Washington Parish successions.

What happens when you call

1. A 30-minute call with intake. We ask who died, what they owned, whether there is a will, and who the heirs are.
2. We tell you the procedure and the price. You get it in writing, along with what we need from you.
3. You sign electronically. Documents that need a notary can be signed at our office or remotely with an online notary.
4. We file with the 22nd JDC and keep you updated until the judgment of possession is signed and recorded.
