Born and raised in south Louisiana, Stephen M. Barrios graduated from Fontainebleau High School in Covington. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Sociology, from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Stephen’s path to practicing law runs straight through Scott Law Group – Estate Counsel. He joined the firm as a Case Manager, and his work on succession files is what led him to pursue a law degree. With the encouragement of the firm’s attorneys, he earned his Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center while continuing to work with the firm during his summers and holidays. That gave him something most new attorneys didn’t have: years of hands-on work on Louisiana successions before he ever signed a pleading. He is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state courts and is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
Stephen has worked on a wide range of succession matters, from simple estates to complicated family situations. He knows families usually come to the firm at one of the hardest times in their lives, and he believes understanding each family’s circumstances and dynamics is the key to making the succession process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Outside the office, Stephen enjoys watching football, listening to music, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
