Jane C. Alvarez is a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She attended Benjamin Franklin Senior High School, graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and returned home to attend Loyola Law School. As a third-year law student, she worked as a student-practitioner in what is now the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice, which let her give back to her community while building legal skills through on-the-ground experience.
After graduating from Loyola, Jane worked briefly for a solo practitioner with a general civil practice, representing a wide variety of clients in many different legal situations. She then moved to a small firm, where she worked for more than twenty-five years. Although she has experience in family law and collections, her practice there was largely focused on successions.
Over her years of practice, Jane has seen the broad spectrum of legal issues that arise in succession matters. She enjoys working with clients and helping them through an often challenging time. She understands the complications that come with the death of a loved one, and the stress of dealing with them while still grieving. She knows the importance of taking the time to understand each client’s unique circumstances, the personalities involved, and the family dynamic, all of which play a role in the succession process.
Jane joined Scott Law Group – Estate Counsel as a succession and estate attorney. She is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association. Administering an estate can be confusing and overwhelming, and her role is to guide clients through the succession process and make it as simple as possible.
Family has always been important to Jane. Outside the office, she spends time with her husband and their three sons, socializes with friends, volunteers, cooks, and walks their dogs.
